II. Fire Rated Building Joints Services

In structures with fire-rated construction, it is required that all fire-rated joints be firestopped to prevent the passage of smoke and flame.  This allows for “compartmentation” of potential fire and smoke hazards, which gives occupants the necessary time required to exit the building safely.  These joints include head of wall (static or dynamic), wall to wall, and edge of slab joints.  Some buildings call for acoustically treated joints in order to dampen the transmission of sound between rooms – this is a service MIS is equipped for as well.
